Set up your building

Most mosques keep the hall diary in a book on the office desk, and the coordinator is the only index to it. Building puts the thing that diary is about into Kadim: the rooms you let, the services you offer, and when each one is available.

You only have to do this once.

Where to find it

Open the menu and tap Building. Every coordinator at an active mosque can use it.

Add another site

Under Sites, buildings and rooms, choose Add a site. Enter its name and save. The new site is immediately available when you add a building. Site names must be different within your mosque; spaces around a name and differences in capitalisation do not make a second name.

Adding a site does not move existing rooms or bookings, change your current site, or publish anything to the community. The same flow works without JavaScript.

Add a building and assign its rooms

  1. Under Sites, buildings and rooms, choose Add a building.
  2. Select the site, enter the building's name and save.
  3. Add a room using the form below and select its building. To adopt an existing room, choose Assign to a building next to that room, select its building and save.

Existing rooms keep their opening hours and history when assigned. Outdoor spaces can remain directly under the site. Defining a building or room does not publish it to the community or create a booking.

Add a room

  1. Under Add a room, type what your team calls it. "Small hall" is better than "Function Room B" if that is what people actually say.
  2. Tap Add.

That is the whole cost. A name is all Kadim needs to start.

If you want to record how many people a room holds, open More before you tap Add. It is optional, only your team sees it, and Kadim never books by headcount.

Add a service

A service is something the mosque offers rather than a room: a nikaah ceremony, janazah washing, marriage counselling. Open Add a service and give it a name and how long it usually takes.

Then answer one question: does it need a room here?

  • Always. Janazah washing, say. It is tied to your building.
  • Sometimes. Half the nikaahs are in the hall and half at the family's own venue.
  • Never, it happens elsewhere. The mosque provides it, your building does not.

Choosing Sometimes or Never is what lets your diary hold the things that happen away from the mosque. Without it, those bookings live nowhere and the diary is still incomplete.

Say when something is available

Open a row's Set hours and you get two ways to answer.

Every week is the usual pattern: pick a day, an opening time and a closing time, then tap Add these hours. Add one for each day the room is normally available. Two sets of hours on the same day are fine as long as they do not overlap, so "9 to 12" and "2 to 5" both fit.

Just one date is the pencil note over the top of it. Pick a date, then either give it different hours or mark it Closed all day. That date follows what you said here instead of the weekly pattern. Saving the same date again replaces what was there, so correcting yourself is safe.

Weekly hours work the other way round for now: once added they cannot be edited or removed, so add them a day at a time rather than tapping straight through. The form starts on Friday, 09:00 to 21:00. Change it before you save if that is not what you meant.

What "Ask" means, and why it matters

A room or service with no hours set shows Ask across the week.

That is deliberate. Kadim will never treat "nobody has said" as "it is free". An empty diary is not an open building. Until you set hours, Kadim's honest answer about that room is that someone has to ask you.

Stop offering a room

Open its Set hours and tap Stop offering, which names the room itself, like "Stop offering Small hall". The row stays in your week carrying a No longer offered badge, so you can still see its history; it just stops being something you are offering.

Nothing is deleted. The room, its history and its hours are all kept.

If the room has future accepted bookings, review their impact and confirm before stopping new requests. Private bookings show only their busy interval unless you belong to their named coordinator group. Existing bookings remain in the Planner; standing down a room does not cancel them.

Stop offering a building

Under Sites, buildings and rooms, choose Stand down building. Its panel explains what will change. Review any future accepted bookings, then confirm. None of its rooms will be offered for new requests, but their existing commitments remain visible.

There is no "offer it again" control yet. Services cannot be stood down from this surface.

Set a room's calendar visibility

Choose Calendar visibility next to the room. Its default applies to new requests; existing items keep their own visibility. Named private group requires at least two active coordinators when a request is recorded. This setting never publishes a calendar.

Plan a booking

Opening hours describe when the room is normally offered, not whether it is occupied. Open Room and service requests to record and decide requests. Only accepted bookings occupy room time. The Planner shows bookings and unanswered requests as separate layers alongside your programmes.

Who can do this

The coordinator sets up the building. It is the same role that runs your rotas.

Nothing on this page is public. What you enter here is visible to your own mosque only.
