Stop the texts

You have two levers, and you do not have to explain yourself to use either one. Choose which kinds of text a mosque sends you, or stop everything with one reply.

Choose which texts you get

Open your volunteer page and pick Your texts. Every kind of text the mosque sends has its own switch: rota broadcasts, shift reminders, digests, skill call-outs and the rest. Switch off the ones you do not want; everything else keeps arriving as before.

These choices apply to that mosque alone. You choose per mosque you serve at, so if you serve at two mosques, each one has its own page and its own switches.

Three things always arrive and have no switch: your sign-in code, safeguarding messages, and the confirmation we send when you reply STOP or START. They are how you sign in, how you stay safe, and how you know your choice was heard.

Stop everything

To stop all texts from every mosque, reply STOP to any message. One reply covers every mosque and every kind of text. You get a single confirmation, and then nothing more.

If you change your mind, reply START and the texts come back.

Leaving the team is a different thing

Stopping the texts does not take you off the team, and leaving the team is not how you stop the texts. If what you actually want is to stop serving at a mosque, your volunteer page has I no longer serve here, and the leaving guide explains what that does.

Your sign-in code is different

The 6-digit code is only ever sent because you asked to sign in on a new device. Nothing sends it to you out of the blue, so there is nothing to switch off. If you never sign in again, no code is ever sent.

What stopping the texts does not change

  • What you have already served stands. Your history of service stays yours.
  • You can come back. Reply START, or switch a category back on, and the texts return.
  • Nobody is told why. Your choices are yours; a coordinator is never shown a reason.
  • The rota is still yours to read. The share link your coordinator posts works for anyone who has it, with no sign-in and no texts.
